From Agia Pelagia to Malia
Join us for a full-day adventure through the scenic mountains of Crete, where nature, tradition, and ancient myths come together. The tour ends with a visit to the legendary Knossos Palace—one of Crete’s most important historical sites.
Our journey begins at the peaceful Monastery of Kera Kardiotissa, cared for by local nuns. Inside, you’ll see a famous icon of the Virgin Mary and beautiful religious art from the 14th century.
Next, we head to the Lasithi Plateau, a high mountain valley surrounded by the Dikti Mountains. Here, 18 small villages still follow traditional Cretan life. You’ll spot white windmills and old Venetian stone ditches once used to water the fields.
We then stop in the village of Psychro, home to the Dicteon Cave—mythical birthplace of Zeus. Inside, the cave is full of dramatic rock formations.
(If the cave is closed, we’ll enjoy extra time at other stops.)
In Psychro, you’ll also visit a pottery workshop and watch skilled artisans create handmade ceramics using age-old techniques.
Our next stop is Tzermiado, the largest village on the plateau. With its stone houses and peaceful mountain views, it’s a lovely place to enjoy a traditional Cretan lunch in a cozy taverna.
Finally, we visit the famous Knossos Palace—the heart of the Minoan civilization. Your guide will walk you through the ruins and share stories of King Minos, the Labyrinth, and the Minotaur. With its grand design and rich mythology, Knossos is a must-see.
This tour is a perfect mix of nature, culture, and ancient history.
