Join us for a peaceful and scenic walk through Imbros Gorge, one of Crete’s most well-known natural trails. Ideal for nature lovers, casual hikers, and families, this tour offers fresh air, gentle exercise, and stunning views.
Located in the Sfakia region of southern Crete, the gorge stretches from the mountain village of Imbros to Komitades. It’s about a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from Chania or Rethymno.
The hike is around 8 kilometers (5 miles) long and takes 2 to 2.5 hours. It’s mostly downhill and suitable for most ages and fitness levels.
As you walk, you’ll pass between towering rock walls, sometimes only 2 meters apart. The narrow paths, rocky cliffs, and shaded areas make it a comfortable and memorable experience—even on warmer days.
You’ll see native herbs, flowers, and trees unique to Crete, making it a paradise for plant lovers and photographers alike.
The gorge also holds historical significance—during World War II, it served as a secret escape route for locals and Allied troops.
The trail ends in Komitades, where you can relax, grab a cool drink, or enjoy a traditional Cretan meal before heading back.
We offer you a free pick up service from Agia Pelagia to Malia. After you have booked your tour, we will let you know the exact place and time of pick up by email or phone.
